Should Welsh Teams Be Allowed In English Premier League?

First off, congratulations to Swansea for gaining promotion to the Premiership, In doing so they are the first Welsh team to get to the Premier Divison. For a side who was struggling around a decade ago to pay the bills and being in the basement of the football league, needing a victory over Hull City to secure their league status on the last day of the 02/03 season in which they won 4-2. Times have well and truely changed for the Swans. Im not sure if Swansea fans can still believe how things have changed for their side. They deserve it, merit rules over anything else in football.

Back to the topic on hand though. Should Welsh sides be allowed to comepte in the English domestic leagues? Personally, I don't see any problem with this, they have been in our leagues for decades, and helped set up some of the history of our leagues as we know them today, so on that right they should stay. Swansea/Cardiff have both had shots of Premiership football this season, they both merited a shot at it and they have been better than the English sides. The league table after 46 games does not lie. English bitterness perhaps sways into this, im not sure, its pathetic to deney them a place in our elite league because of them being 'Welsh'. Its like saying Newport/Wrexham cannot participate in our English leagues as they play in the Blue Sq Prem. We don't call it the English Blue Sq Prem, do we.

The great irony of all this complaining of keeping the Premier Divison 'English' is the fact that not one English manager has won the Premier Divison since it came into motion, adding to the fact alot of the squads struggle to field a mainly English team to start with. So really what differance is having a Welsh team in our Premier Divison going to do, no one has objected them to playing in the English leagues all this time.

To round off this blog, good luck to all the three sides who gained promotion this season.
